Melkin the Mechanic
Melkin is a mechanic. He is also a goblin with a problem: he is very badly organised; his workshop looks like a jumble sale, his papers are never filed away correctly in his office, he leaves important tools back at his house, and some of the objects he dumps in his scrapyard aren’t actually junk, but valuable items. To top it all off, though his pet goblog, Bolto, is a good assistant and always keen to help, he also has a habit of hording things inside his goblog-house.
One day, Melkin’s disorganisation is to cost him when the bad-tempered troll, Turgal, orders him to fix his Sludgemobile and have it ready for after lunch “or else!…” This doesn’t give Melkin much time (plus he’ll miss his lunch, and Melkin is very fond of his grub). To make matters worse, Melkin’s tools are missing from his tool-rack! A result of his disorganisation again! However, help is at hand in the form of loyal Bolto and Melkin’s best friend and goblin of few words, Todderick.
This is when the fun starts! With the help of the reader, they must find all of Melkin’s tools, which are spread over five locations (his workshop, his office, his scrapyard, his house and Bolto’s goblog-house). In addition, there are five mislaid treasured possessions of Melkin’s in each location for the reader to spot.
Can you help Melkin find the tools so he can fix the Sludgemobile before Turgal has his legs for chops?
